I don't know about that particular one but in general, ARC makes high quality parts... basically, it's as good as an intercooler that size can be.

It's like the Blitz SMIC. It pretty much stock size or maybe a couple cm bigger. A total waste of money.

it doesnt look like it is that much larger than the stocker, and i highly doubt it is worth the price for the increased efficiency. big waste of money, IMO. for just a few pennies more, you could get a real SMIC (ala M2 Medium/Large) or even a FMIC. also, not many people have this IC...so why be like the guinea pig for it?? you dont know its design flaws/fitment problems (granted ARC makes quality stuff), and what other aftermarket intakes and hoods it will fit with...etc.

just my .02.

not crap, just overpriced

The markup seems to be extreme. Maybe one of the guys from Japan can verify this (the Gucci of intercoolers "LOL").

Feed is another example, would you pay over $300.00 for spark plug wires?

Unhappy foot in the mouth

Ok, i'm a , that's actually a good/fair price and about the same as my Greddy SMIC.

They do have expensive radiators and coilovers, so basically I was just trying to make a Japanese markup point.

ok, ok,...I don't have a life. I have an overpaid, boring government job that lets me use the internet all day, waaahhh!

ARC is the best quality in Japan
I have posted before, I will be able to offer you at the special price.
And, I will carry them to USA, then you can spare the big shipping cost from Japan.

I am not saying anything bad about the ARC's product, but why don't you invest in M2's SMIC? To me, the M2s look more promising..... well, sorry if I am wrong.

Just to make it clear....there's no way I would pay that price for the IC. Just was wondering what kind of performance the unit offers.

If you want a smic for about the same price, get the Blitz or Greddy. They are a little bigger too. That one looks like the stock i/c with aluminum tanks.

hey guys this is what i found out, the ARC IC has 2 version the reg SMIC iC and the race version and this is a compare to some others

THICKNESS WIDTH HEIGHT/ LYING DOWN

STOCK: 2.5 11.5 4.5

ARC 4 12 4

ARC RACE VERS. 4.5 12 4.25

GREDDY 4 12.5 7.5

PFS 4 10.5 3.5

as you can see the ARC is worth its weight i think, i have been a fan of the ARC products, im trying to see if i can fit my T78 with my cold airbox with custom pip
these specs came off of LIGHTING WORLD OF THUNDER AND FROM MACKIN INDUSTR
hope this helps some of you out
good luck

Your 3rd dimension is a typo with the PFS and Greddy cases.....here's the correct numbers:

stock: 2.5x11.5x4.5 129 in^3
PFS: 3.5x10.4x10.5 382 in^3
Greddy: 4x12.5x7.5 375 in^3

If the ARC numbers are correct, it's pretty shitty...

These pop up on e-bay ever-so-often, and i've seen them go for $350 to $700. I believe japan parts specialist or something similar frequently has them. Personally, I've got an m2....

i bought one on ebay for $250 shipped, excellent shape. it is bigger than stock. the main benefit is that it gets rid of the plastic crap. my understanding is that it does provide a positive performance benefit, to what degree, i cant say definitively. ill post a pic this afternoon.

That "plastic crap" is IC ducting and helps redirect airflow to your IC, the XSPOWER IC that Im sure you bought is crap.

You mean this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33632

I really hope that you have some ducting going to it otherwise the effiency will go down quite a bit.

Do you have a power FC? if so what are your new intake temps? If not here is my unscientific test : After a decent run how hot is the pipe that leads to the UIM? is it cool (and I mean that literally, not kinda warm) to the touch? or is it hot like the pipe coming out of the turbos (and into the IC).

I think what he means is that it gets rid of the plastic END CAPS, not the ducting, and to my knowlege he bought the ARC IC for $250, not that XS Power one.
This is just my under standing from his post.

I have the ARC SMIC and the core dimensions are 2.5x12x6

It is fairly small, but worlds better than the stock IC. The unscientific test montego mentioned had good results, the IC inlet pipe is obviously HOT and the outlet hard pipe stays fairly cool. I'd like to move up to a bigger SMIC someday because I want to start doing track weekends, but the ARC SMIC does its job well.

Apart from the core size, would anyone know if the ARC has less of a pressure drop than the stock?
