arc intake filter mystery solved...maybe

just an fyi for anyone with an arc intake box. i got mine used with fram filters already in it which were junk (which i was told in advance). after goofing around on the k&n filter site, i came up with a filter that appears to be a perfect fit. the best part is that it's for a land rover discovery II which i have in my driveway. the bad news is that i went out to pull the filter out of the disco and the hood cable snapped, so i'll have to wait until tomorrow to check if the size is correct. if anyone is intersted, i'll post the k&n part number after i check the fit. i know that all i had was a fram part number that appeared to be discontinued and not manufactured by any other filter company. hope this helps anyone with this air box.

I tried all kinds of K&N's. The closest I came was the filter for the mercedes 320 SLK. However it was a little to narrow in the width.

the filter for a land rover discovery II with a 4.0 fits perfectly (99-02). i just installed the corresponding k&n filter and will be ordering the second one tomorrow. k&n part number is 33-2119. filter just drops right in and the cover fits over with no trimming or anything. i hope this helps people with the arc box. i know mine certainly looks a hell of a lot better, if nothing else, with the new filter.
