Apexi PowerFc vs Petitt Ecu

Hey, right now i have an apexi powerfc, i have 1 very busy tuner that's lives about 50mins away, my question is, if i take out the PFC and simply install an unlimited petitt ecu, would i lose power? if so how much, alot? a little?, iam only thinking about doing this, because i don't always feel like bringing my car in to get it tuned for $150 everytime i add another bolt on, for instance if i ran my itself once with tuned pfc at 12pounds, and once with petitt ecu at 12pounds would it be a close race?, mods in the sig

pettit unlimited is nowhere near the ecu that the powerfc is. dont get rid of it. . . dont even trade it out. . . just buy all the mods you want. . . do em at once. . . and have it tuned. . . then wait a year or so. . . sheesh. . . 150.00???? thats GREAT pricing!!!!!

the pettit unlimited hammers more fuel in there or something like that so that you can BOLT ON virtually anything. it cant handle big changes, im sure.

the Pettit Unlimited IIRC is tuned for 14psi with all the bolt ons and has much more agressive ignition timing than the stock ECU. This is a good choice if your going to stick with the stock turbos and all the boltons, cuz it provides care free operation (albeit with a little less power than a PFC)

If you plan to run more than 14lbs of boost, upgrade the stock turbos or fuel system, or want LOTS of tunability, then the pettit cant hold a candle to the PFC. My personal plan is to buy a used pettit unlimited for the time being. That'll take care of me until i decide to go single, BECAUSE i dont need the tunability yet, i just want to put it in and drive and mod till im at the limit of the stock turbos/fuel system w/o worrying about re-tuning. Then once i have the money to go all out single, i WILL DEFINITELY buy a PFC because it is unrivaled for tunability mixed with user friendliness and every tuner knows how to use it.

So in short, stick with the PFC man. You'll be much happier in the long run

PFC is tunable & Pettit is not. They don't compare.

Limited and unlimited, makes no difference since your fuel system is limited to 1 bar. There is no reason for unlimited since you would have to add a (tuneable) fuel computer, then you could have just gone PFC or Haltec instead.

You're paying to retune for bolt on's? ...why? The only mod I see in your list worth tuning for is the down pipe.

Would you loose power? ...yes. How much? ...maybe 5-25hp. What is your current HP? Compare your dyno numbers, otherwise it's a guess.

PFC runs so much better do to the more powerful computer, a real plus for non-sequential. And no 3k stumble! Suspect you're getting much better mpg too.

If that is what you want, pay the $150 1 time and have your tuner tune the PFC with the same map that the Pettit ECU would use. Obviously, there prob is not a "Pettit Map" but he can tune it identical to the pettit. Then you can do whatever you want just like the pettit. And then if you decide that you want real tuning after you get all of your mods complete, you can have it retuned. With the pettit, you will be stuck.

I have taken the lazy path. I got my PFC early, after the 3 standard mods (intake/DP/CB), and have been waiting until I got everything on to get it tuned. That time will be soon now.

You want to simulate the effects of the Pettit ECU? Just add 5-8% fuel to all cells under boost over 3k rpm. That will probably get you pretty close...
