Apexi Power FC: The Real Deal

This isn't a call out or anything I just have to know. I work in sales and study economics ( Go Concordia!), so no bs here now.

I just have to know the TRUE STORY on the pricing of the Apexi Power FC and Commander.

Why do places such as ********** and *********** sell the PFC for now 650$ USD and 615$$ USD for the Japanese version (even though all the menu's are in engluish and the install instuctions can be found online). While here it seems noone can or will go under the 1000$ mark. I mean a quick check gives me 1025$,1050$ and up.

Is it possible that there is such an increase in cost price to make these deals impossible? If others can sell and make profit at those marks is there no way that Sellers here can pressure vendors such as Apexi to lower cost prices in order for them to stay competitive>?

Does this mean that a 1 year warranty and some instuctions are supposed to be worth 400$ USD?

I just wanna know. PM response no problem it would stay confidential I just gotta know. Even if you factor in transport and taxes there is no way for a 65% increase?

Many thanks for the low flame level,

Alex

Because no one is complaing enough about it! If people keep buying at $1200, why stop? I bought a "cheaper" one off ebay straight from Japan for $840 shipped about 7 months ago...Just MHO!

I am going to be purchasing a brand new Power FC soon through Jap Parts Specialist for a nice price of 750 with commander. Screw paying 1000 when you can get it for 750.

I've been doing them for about US$750 too.

I've even seen them for as low as around US$500 on japanese auctions. I've been to scared to get them at that price though - as it's just too low! lol. I stick with the suppliers I trust.

still - I don't know how they are getting stock that cheap (the serials are all current, too)

The US dealers dont get as good a price as Jap dealers. I could give them away and make a 3% profit, but whats the point. I sell them all day long at $999 which includes free map and warranty.

Apexi USA still hasn't caught up to Apexi Japan's pricing. It's pretty dumb, as I'm sure Apexi USA is losing a LOT of sales to people who are just buying from overseas. Not to mention it isn't a small difference, it's pretty substantial.

You can also factor in the fact that PowerFC's have proven to be hardy ECU's, with few failures of the hardware itself. The warranty on something that's hardy and proven has less value to me. Why pay a US distributor $200-300 more for something that most likely isn't going to fail?

Bought mine from Jap Parts Specialists over a year ago - got it quick, brand new, and it's still working like a champ.

same here dale.

I have 10000% respect for rx7store/Jason. And i have purchased numerous items from them. But when it came to the pfc, i purchased it through jap parts spec as well. paid 720 for it it. 745 shipped to my door w/commander. And this isnt a 'knock' @ rx7store or jason. They are just unable to provide it at the same price as companys based in japan.

Jason

Yes you could sell them at 3 % and be basically not even making operational costs. However, why not talk to your supplier and tell him the truth look this is one very very high demand product, if I want to sell more and keep up sales in the future you gotta give me a better cost price. Explain the japparts and rhdparts competition. See what happens.

It isn't a question of being cheap but let's say I don't wanna spend 33.5% more for this? I would rather buy an intake kit, or a guage or some grounding wires? On one hand I have a merchand that can offer me this and on the other hand I do not. What would you do?

How about the map that comes from jason. do they give you that on the japan ones? it's a bit of give and take. I will persoanlly take the warranty (since electronics failures happen a majority of the time within the first year) and the base map.

We all know the website.

There is a site I will not name that sells for lower than 700 shipped. But that's not the point I just had to know WHY?

Now we know. BTW Jason I would much rather buy it from you for a reasonableprice difference personally as I am sure everyone would. It is just a matter of you supporting the rx7club community so as Jerry McGuire would say "Help me, help you"

I have mentioned to Apexi USA that its hard compete when you can get it from Japan cheaper, but they didnt really seem to care. I probably sell 10 Power FC's a month which isnt to bad considering. I do sell a lot to those that purchase single turbo setups and fuel systems who want me to put a map on it.

Thanks to those for the support

It has gone as far as actual US vendors buying them in bulk from Japan and reselling them in the US market !!!

Well Jason, thanks for the clear up, super professional.

I don't have to think about this anymore and we will see what is to come. Maybe with the new model in a couple of years things will change.

I'm one of the chosen few that got a defective PFC when new. Luckily I paid the extra to buy it from RP/rx7.com since they were an authorized dealer for Apexi. It still took three months to resolve - hate to know how long or if these cheap sellers could backup their product.
