Apexi PFC good for 600+ WHP?

I was just wondering what all you 600+ WHP guys use as far as fuel management. I plan on being around the HP range in the next year or so.

hahahha...ok...Ill believe it when i see it.

regardless...if you are going that high then you should go motec.

the pfc only has 20x20 resolution and at that hp level I would want finer tuning than that.

among other things

I guess all you guys forgot about the SCOOT car dynoing 710ps with a PFC?

the scoot FD dynoed 710 ps, which is different than horsepower but still a high number nevertheless... If you want 600rwhp, maybe a TEC3 would be better choice

So is there a conversion chart available for hp vs. ps if that's the case?

i believe that hp and ps are not very far off from each other. this came up a while ago and i think after the conversion the scoot car was still at like 703hp......

Why doesn't everyone just go with the Motec or TEC3 instead of the Apexi PFC then? How much do they cost anyways? Sorry, I don't know much about this subject..

You guys are funny, you think that just by having a more expensive fuel management system it can make or
not make more HP. If Scoot can make over 700RWHP on a 2 rotor, (for which I can bet that not many people
on this forum can do W/O using NOS on a gasoline powered 2 rotor) why would you think that the PFC can't do it? Fuel management systems are good when they are accurate at controlling ignition timing, and the variables set by the user, not how much they cost.

What was the purpose of the Scoot car? Was it a dyno queen? Is it a daily driver? Does it even see the street or is it basically a track car or show car?

If you drive on the street you need fine resolution which is created by haveing more grids in your map. This isnt to say that the PFC cant do it but I would want more resolution if I were runing 22+psi of boost.

The new Haltec or AEM has more resolution than a PFC, they are only about $200 more than a PFC. They are a huge pita to install but if the motor is already out its no big deal at all.

I'd say for the money at those boost levels I'd go with the new Haltec or AEM, the Motec would be nice if you want to spend $5K on the ecu.

Again this isnt to say the PFC wouldnt work but I'd rather have more fine tuning at those kind of boost levels. If your running WOT all the time like a dyno queen or drag car fine tuning isnt a big deal.

Everyone that I know that has the PFC has GREAT driveablility, and has no "resolution" problems at all, give it a sec, there are some PFC guys that are making good HP, and not having any problems that will post in a little while, I'm fowarding them this thread.

The Scoot car was used mainly for top speed blasts. It hit 320 km/h in this option video I have.

Guys.... the PowerFC is very much capable of controlling a 600rwh 2 rotor setup !!! DON'T UNDER ESTIMATE THIS UNIT !

Driveability ?? most PowerFC powered cars I've seen drive as good are better then the stock ECU......more then I could say for few other systems....

PowerFC has the one best ignition accuracy ....*but*
again it all depends on the person behing the tunning !!!!!!....>..even a Motec could be crap with a crappy tuner behind it.

remember you could add resolution under boost by adjusting it the FCEdit like I've done

Soon>>>>you guys will see 600RWH PowerFC powered car or even 400+rwh with stock engine/turbos

With the PFC's 20 x 20 grid you only have 10 pressure points. The higher the boost you run the more pri range each pressure line has to cover.

You can start your pressure lines lower at say line 7 instead of 10 but then you've got less resolution in the daily driving type setting.

Like i said it would work but I'd rather spend $200 more and get a larger grid and new engine harness if I were going to be running the boost it take to make 600+ rwhp.

And to clarify, yes most PFC users have awsome driveablilty (like me) but most are not running 25+psi of boost either. Almost all the PFC users are still running the stock map sensor which means they are no where near 600+rwhp

Exactly, which means its used for WOT driving. I doubt it saw much vacume in the pressure cells. They prob had less than 5 cells for vac up to 0 boost then use the other 15 for pressure cells. Which means they'd be able to run 30 psi with a avg of 2psi per pressure line.....which is pretty good.

That is...Unless you drive and cruise in vacume a lot

If I can get Ralph from Xcessive(http://www.xcessive-motorsports.com/) to post some info on here about how his car drives, and performs, that would be great. He has a daily driven FD with a PowerFC making about 600+RWHP and he loves it, not to mention that he's actually a tuner by trade, and can spread more light on this subject.

Well thats great and all, but please tell me who is going to run a T-88, T51 KAI, GT40, etc... at 25-30 psi (to make these kind of hp numbers) and also daily drive their car???

As long as you lower the boost when you drive it everyday, why not?

For starters, how about Steve Kan

BUT regaurdless, like I said in my post if its not a true street car then its a mute point, your just tuning WOT so its not a big deal

Hell, I know I'd drive that bitch all the time LOL

I was going to mention Ralph, I know he likes the PFC and has a really sick setup with his FD.
We have several guys on this forum pusing 500+rwhp on PFC's that don't have any problems with them. The crew from Ohio likes to use the PFC and they have a few members with lots of HP.
Ihor and Nocab both use the PFC. The PFC by itself is good, but with the datalogit its great!!!
I know after I put my PFC in my FD it ran better then with the stock ecu.

Then whats the point???
Your engine and seals won't last long, you drivetrain won't last long, why would you wan't to daily drive a car that has a really big (slow spooling) turbo, thats tuned for race gas???
