this is by far better than that nasty looking thing

it comes with double sided tape and all so you can stick one part of the slider to the commander and one to your dash. then they slide together to lock. I have this and it is so nice. I can remove it from the dash whenever I want and I don't see anything holding it. Just looks like its floating.

didn't i post this EXACT SAME gps/cell holder on here over a year ago?

2007-11-26: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/nice-cheap-pfc-commander-holder-707837/

ok maybe not the EXACT same, but it has the same holder piece. mine is the suction cup version. i saw the clip-on version, but i didn't want to block my airvents.

works great for my phones gps nav too

I got mine at Best Buy in the car audio section that has cell phone holders. You can get these almost anywhere online.
The product name is Bracketron Hold-iT Mobile Device Holder
Here is the company website and pictures
http://www.bracketron.com/index.php?catid=12&pid=57

I have my PFC mounted with it and you can see it in this picture

If you get this, the trick it that you must use the thicker double sided tape on the dash. It comes with some standard double sided tape (grey) and another that is thick (white). You have to mount the attachment piece with the white tape on the dash because of how porous the dash is. Oh ya, I forgot to mention that it comes with an additional attachment piece so it can be held on the A/C vent grill.

That's a pretty sweet set-up too. The one I bought also came with an extra backing and 3M tape so you can put the holder on any flat surface.

If you think you got something that works better then post it up with some pics. In the end, everyone else have more ideas to choose from. Maybe this thread should turn into a sticky for PFC commander holders since there seems to be interest.

As I said earlier, I'm not claiming to be the first to come up with this idea. I learned a long time ago that if you thought of something then the odds are someone else did too.

Peace

Hahaha, you already got it? Nice. Ya, I love how instead of just double sided tape keeping it to the dash, you have something that can separate from the dash with ease.

I messed up when I first installed because I put the good thick double sided tape that it came with on the commander. You should put the thicker stuff on the dash because it can stick to the vinyl alot better.

Racerex90 did you already buy one too?

Nice. Probably the best way to do that would be using this pvc piece and just JB Welding the female attachment piece to it.

Also, for those of you that use the Gotham Racing Holder. If you are worried or already encounter the sandpaper like finish scratching the commander do what I did when I used mine.

Cut out 2 strips of the female part of velcro (the soft side, not the hooks). Then place one vertically on the holder where the backside of the Commander rests. Then another strip that goes on the inside of the actual holders where the side handle part of the Commander touches. Either side works.

ok thought i would post mine also. its similar to moconnor's except i took an old cigarette lighter plug that went to a broken phone charger, removed the wires inside, used a square 1/4" nut that fit inside and didnt allow it to spin freely (could also be epoxied in) then took the commander apart drilled a hole where i wanted it, stuck a short 1/4" bolt through that had the head ground flat. Bolted it to the nut/charger plug and inserted it into the socket.

Heres a couple of not so great pics but u get the idea. perfect location for viewing i think.

I like the placement of the cigarette mount, but don't like covering the warning lights.

The brake warning light in particular is very useful on track since if you start with new pads and topped brake fluid, it comes on close to the point that the pads needs replacing.

I just put the commander where God and Gotham intended it.

Could always tap into the brake warning light and put a warning somewhere else. I don't think the high beam light would be of any use on the track. I don't remember what the other warning light is over there... To lazy to look. Rear defrost maybe? I think being able to use the commander as a gauge would come in handy on the track.
