So Iv'e heard that the apexi dual intake sucks in hot air if it isnt shielded from the rest of the engine bay? Is this true? I see TONS of people running this intake, do you guys notice any issues?

 

well, both the apexi and blitz utilize the stock intake hoses and they trail right up to the rad support. but, the reason why people mat say they suck in hot air is because the intake is not ultilizing the thingy that goes from the intercooler to the intake; the one thingynblocking off the hot air and only sucking in the pathed air from the intercooler. honestly, i saw a couple thingys with a test of greddy, apex and HKS...Apex won with a 1-2hp increase over HKS... plus they filter better and have the most bang for the buck yo!

 

i have one.. but basically no issues with high air temp. but.... if you have a front mount... it'll cool it off... if you don't.... it doesn't matter anyway... just put a slice of alluminum right on top of the radiator fan.. diverting it to behind of the intake... that should do the trick.

 

I'm not 100% sure but that's what i've heard too. For sure the turbos wouldn't like an increase in tempreture. I think the best thing to do is to replace the stock filter with a K&N filter one. That would help the system to breath better and like that you'll still be working with all the stock parts (air box etc..)

 

Yes, you are sucking hot air from off the radiator. This has been posted many times. Either search here or go to www.fd3s.net and look under intakes. You'll find a temp comparison between the stock, M2 box, and Pettit open intakes. It's pretty eye opening.
