Apexi GT Intercooler "not BIG enough?"
I recently spoke with a tech from XS Engineering, and asked him what steps to go next in my quest for Rotary Tranquility.
My Specs: GreddyT-88 Kit
Apexi GT Spec FMIC
RP Comp Fuel Pump
850 Primaries/RP 1600 Inj. Kit
Paxton Adj. Fuel Reg.
Center Force Clutch assemb.
Wires, plgs, suspension, etc...
He suggested I chuck out my Apexi for the new Greddy. I was like, "Why?" He replied, that the Apexi was good only until 400hp. From what I saw, My Apexi is about the same height and about 4 times the thickness. The only thing the New Greddy had was that it was a little longer and polished (big deal).Come to think about it, doesn't Ari run the smaller FMIC Greddy had produced prior to the new one? (9.62@144mph) I think that's a little over 400hp...

1) What is the name of the tech. (Odds are you don't rememeber )
2) Evaluate the following:
A'PEXi GT FMIC 19.5 x 9 x 5 = 877.5 cubic inches
A'PEXi GTR FMIC (rx7fashion) 24 x 10 x 3 = 720
Williams FMIC (turbostreetfighter.com) 24 x 8 x 3.5 = 672
Greddy Large FMIC 23x11.1x2.75 = 702.075
(thanks to twinturboteddy for those numbers...if found in 10 seconds after doing a search...you would have found it EASY)
It's not like XS to lay out some absurd facts. I am betting something is being left out in this 'conversation.'
Regards

I wouldn't be surpise if the New Greddy FMIC is more efficent than the Apex GT or Blitz FMIC. It has a greater surface area than any of those i/c. I also did not like the number of bends the pipe had to make with the Apex GT. The Blitz was just too small. The RX7 Fashion i/c requires the you cut off the front cross member Don't think thats a very good idea. In the end, I went with the New Greddy FMIC. The install is a pain, the result is stunning. You can tell right away that yu've gain alot of power.

I dont know what there is all this arguing about ic's for. I have a T78 that made 442rwhp at 16.5psi and i am using the M2 medium stock mount intercooler. Everyone told me that I was crazy but it seems to make just as much power as the big frontmounts and it keeps my intake temps in the low to mid 40deg celsius under long full throttle runs when it is 90degrees farenheit outside. I would say that the intercooler you have will be fine.

To Badog- You must be trying to be funny ("odds I don't remember") Kiss my ***. Try giving someone else your crap replies. Talk to me when your in single turbo range, until then you can keep your smart remarks to yourself. You said some crap about being able to find some info about the I/C's online(10 sec), that's about the same time I'll run on you at the 1/4.

What the heck is going on here? =(
I'll stay out of it.
Jetlag, dood.
There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Greddy way. BUUU WAA HAAHHAHAHAHA
I might try the Greddy FMIC on the R1. Not entirely sure yet.

What about the inlets and outlets size. It seems to me that I heard the efficiency differences stemed from the end tank design and more specifically the size of the inlet/outlets. I think they are smaller on the Apexi IC.
Cant remember for sure but thought I'd throw it out there for someone to check into
