APEXi Gauges!!

Ok...this is for anyone who has APEXi gauge, especially the new EL ones…..

I don't know if it's just coincidence, but yesterday night I was out racing, I looked up and noticed that my Exhaust temp gauge was maxed out at 12…so I slowed down. but it stayed there, so I pulled over. I heard this tinking sound from the turbin area. My conclusion…exhaust temp sensor broke and was still bouncing around in my exhaust housing. I drove it home to let it cool down so I could remove the sensor and my roommate (riding with me) said that he heard something come out of my exhaust. I get home and take the sensor out…. it was gone…there was about a 1/4 of an inch left.

It suckes but I'm going to contact APEXi and see if it's still under warranty.

Now here's what worries me….the SAME THING just happened to my fiends sensor when he was racing tonight…

Just a heads up for anyone who decides to go with the APEXi gauges…. don't know if it's a defect or what.

Has anyone else had this problem?

SP Engineering wouldn't touch APEXI gauges for the same reason, the guy said one of their EGT gauge broke and end up costing him a motor.

to be honest I never fully trusted my EL Apexi boost gauge. it was hard enough paying almost $300 for it but I wanted "the best", peak alerts, playback memory yada yada. anyways, peak hold always revealed alot higher value than anything I saw during memory play (or record for that matter). pissed me off to no end - can I trust this gauge or what!?!! it did this at stock levels and was wayyy optimistic as more mods went on. I think it spiked a few times in the mid-20's!

never heard this from anyone else though so maybe got a crappy one.

good luck.

Angry

Yea, I was the friend who's ex. temp sensor broke last night, and my fuel pressure gauge has never worked right since I got it... seems like it has a crap pressure sensor... and my boost gauge does the same **** as yours...

I love Apexi stuff, my car is full of it, but the EL series is evidently crap, the guages are cool, but sombody tried to save some $ with shitty sensors...

finally corroboration. I'll say it then. Apexi gauges suck the big one and next time I'm going Defi or VDO.

loved my N1 single exhaust though.

I've had Apexi EGT, water temp., fuel pressure, and boost gauges. All work well for over a year now with no problems what so ever. And I race a lot....
