I don't have a midpipe so I dont get flames but I've noticed significantly less popping noises with the silencers on.

I run one on my LS1 Rx7 and it rocks. Really knocks the boom out of idle and low rpm cruising but it unleashes the devil at full throttle! I think I lost a few hp on the dyno but not much.
