can you replace a "cracked" apex seal or will you need like a rebuild?

"The engine does run but it blows smoke out the exhaust that smells like unburnt fuel I think this is due to a cracked apex seal."

"This car ran perfectly until 1 day ago when the apex seal went bad."

and the guys like, oh but now I'm just selling it because my wife's college tution. yes i only decide to sell it one day after the apex seal goes. must be the wifes tutiton. :0 i dunno tho
