Anyone checked RX7.com website recently
They are selling their Apex PowerFC with commander for $980
Is this the cheapest place to get it or has there been lower prices?

I'd rather buy a new power fc w/commander from a reputable shop for $980 than one used from some unknown private seller who will offer no technical support and may rip you off for $500, let alone $800. Not to mention that this is electronic equipment here, not something like a catback or a midpipe.

 

I guess the number of people importing them cheap from Japan instead of purchasing from a U.S. retailer has prompted this price drop.

From what I am seeing, he is closing up. Very little inventory show, a closeout page, etc....

 

Just make sure if you buy the pfc's from japan that they're the 8bit ones and not the 16bits one as the 16's wont work on ours.

I am trying to get GB together here and they will be $800 shipped, for new JDM PFC w/commander. The only two difference is that, they do not come with English insturctions (which can be found in the PFC Forum), and no US 1 year limted warranty.

all pfc's are 16bit. Just make sure you get the right version or else harness won't line up with pfc.

 

I bought mine from JapPartsSpecialists off Ebay - got the commander and PFC for $799. That's a STEAL. Had it in under a week, brand new in the box, works great.

The only caveat to buying one from Japan is you don't get a warranty. But, the PFC has proven itself to be a pretty hardy piece of electronics.

I think Apexi USA has caught on to everyone buying from Japan. Apexi Japan started bundling the PFC and Commander back in September or so - they come in one box now, with the commander basically free. That had to have been killing US sales - buy one in the US for $1200 and change or one from Japan for $800. Most people will take the risk and get one straight from Japan.

Anyhow, I was VERY pleased with the one I got from JapPartsSpecialist. Quick shipping, good and fast communication, got me a tracking number, etc. You can also just buy it direct without Ebay - he has them for $820 on his site -

I bought a pfc from rx7.com last week and they said apex made them lower the price. because of the bundle mentioned above. Also when you buy one from rx7.com they have lifetime tech help. they said if I ever changed my bost leval they would set up a new map for me for free. they also set up a base map after asking for my mods. Not that i would use that map but its better than nothing.

 

they also have a greddy FMIC on there for $776 shipped

 

699 brand new off of ebay motors looked at them today

 

I know you can find them dirt cheap on ebay but I would rather go with rx7.com
Like mentioned before they offer liftime tech help which is awesome.
I mean the price alone was what caught my eye right away.

 

Lifetime tech help meaning that they set the maps for you right? If that's the case then it's worthless IMO.

I was looking at their website today and it does not show the Apex Power FC on special I wonder if it was not true.

Its strange, the notice they used to have up on the site about bundling a commander with every pfc is gone, and the pricing in the ecu section seems to be $980 + $350 for the commander. However, you get an error when trying to add the commander to your cart even though the PFC can be added without a problem, its like the SKU has been removed. It may just be that they are bundling the commander with the pfc but haven't updated their pages yet. I'm going to call tomorrow to check.

 

Yeah exactly what I was checking myself it is weird.
I guess we will have to wait until they update their pages.
