I'm to the point where I should be wiring things up and that kind of puzzled me. There already is a sensor for the alarm if the hood is open. There are no dash lights notifying you if the hood is popped. There is no electronical device that locks the hood latch. What the hell is this harness for?

I'm pretty sure its for the stock alarm. I don't remember where I read it but when you open the hood while the alarm is armed, I think the alarm will be set off. So that could be it too.

The ABS computer, on the other hand, is in the rear of the car, on the driver's side, behind the side trim panel in the hatch.

John, this should answer your question. On the front (engine bay) wiring harness, there are six "branches" off the front center section of the harness. Two for the grounding points, two for the horns, one for the hood latch sensor, and one for the fog light harness (even if the car wasn't equipped with them), IIRC. If you've got one plug left with everything else connected, it was intended for the fog lights.

Jim, I'm not trying to figure out where the the harnesses go. I've just wondered for the longest time why there is a harness that goes to the hood release and what it is for.
