I am looking to purchase a 3rd gen RX-7 and am looking for someone in the western new york area for two reasons. One, will I fit, and two who are good mechanics in the area. Unfortunately, the last time I sat in a 3rd gen was at the 1993-4 Toronto auto show. I would just like to sit in one now to check the size. I don't recall any problems with size, nice and snug, but I have bulked up a bit since then and I want to ensure that I will still fit!

You're right about that. It is a tight fit. Eventually when you find a 3rd Gen to buy, obviously you'll be able to sit in it before you plunk down any cash. In the meantime, if you don't find one to test fit, trying sitting in a Miata in a dealer's showroom. To me, the Miata feels like it has a little more hip room than the FD, but if you don't fit well in the Miata, then you're going to have problems with a 3rd Gen too.
