Anyone used a T04R .84 before?
Anyone used a T04R .84 before?
Hey I'm building an engine right now, just oem spec with upgraded water seals otherwise pretty much stock. My plan is to just get this engine going for the summer somewhat cheap so I can build up my other one when I have the spare money slowly.
I want to go with a single to avoid all the headaches of the twins but I want to stay like 3-350whp due to having oem apex seals, street car, reliability etc. I came across a T04R with an .84 hot side which I know is pretty small . But I can get a bigger housing when my other engines finishd and push it a bit more. Has anyone used a small housing like that and could I see 3-350whp with quick spool? Or am I wasting my time?

you're on the right track, HKS used to sell a something like that. i'm not 100% sure, but i think the T04E came with a .84 and the T04R was .96? anyways, its been done, and it works fine
Very poor turbo choice for those power levels. Its pretty laggy. That turbo is a 500-550rwhp range turbo. The .84 is fine for less than 18 psi FYI.
Agreed. You would be better off with a T04E if you want an older turbo that spools decently. An EFR 7670 will walk right around it though.
Awesome thanks for the input guys. In that case I'm gonna grab it anyways since it's so cheap and out it on the shelf for my engine next year.
