Anyone ship a hatch before?
Aight I'm getting some crazy quotes for shipping a hatch... and it's BARELY OVER of Greyhound and DHL max measurements. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinkin of asking Ray Crowe @ Malloy if he can help out (I know he'll ship engines...). But other than that, I'm drawing a blank. Any suggesstions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!

Most companies (including DHL Dansa) will only send business items via freight. And freight isn't that cheap either.
DHL told me they MAY be able to ship the hatch since the measurements are so close, as long as it'll fit in the container. So I'm gonna grab it and take it to them and see.
Any other ideas?

Ramy,
Unless you can pull some strings, you will probably have to ship that hatch via truck freight.
I would check with Ray, or if you know someone that owns a business, to ship it for you. I have had a few large items shipped through my local Mazda dealer (I know them personally) and it's usually cheaper that way because of the corporate discount they receive.

I don't know how much bigger a hatch is than a hood, But I receaved a hood threw UPS. It is classified as over size and cost $75. It arrived in perfect shape. I actually was real suprized it was shipped this way myself.
Ramy call American Freighting at 1800-716-7608. Listen to the first message then press 2. They have accounts with 80 shipping companies which bid for your business and they offer a substantial discount. Ray is good but he only goes through one company, Yellow Trucking. There is a aprox. 35 dollar fee at each end that is residential.

Thanks guys...and Rob, Imma call these guys and see what I can get. I'll keep you guys posted, should anyone look for this info in the future, and want to know the best price I was quoted.
Brandon, I'm very surprised about the hood, but I believe the hood is slightly smaller. If it's 3 inches narrower (which I believe it is), it'll go via DHL, Fedex, or UPS Ground. But I can't shave 3 inches, and that's before I've even boxed it/wrapped it yet!

A 220lb tranny or an engine shipped from business to business on a pallet From Texas to Va. was around $190. An engine shipped to Cali is about $240 give or take. Not sure about a hatch...
Kai, that company doesn't pick up in my area, and the company they list that does...they're retired lol.
Rob, they quoted me $164, business to business.
Ray Crowe @ Malloy quoted me $132, from business to business. Now I gotta see if any buyers are willing to pay that much lol. It's actually not that bad...very close to what you'd pay from Rotary Extreme or another company when they send something freight.

Lupe, I'm selling it w/o the glass. Saves about 20 lbs, which lowers the price a bit. And no, I'm not gonna bother removing the glass...I'm just gonna take a tire iron to it and shatter it
(Seriously) lol.
