Anyone removed this part from their headlights?

I'm thinking of removing the limiter on the headlight system. Anyone do this before? Any adverse effects? I adjusted the pad so that there wasn't any contact and there doesn't seem to be much play in the system. Just curious if this has been done successfully or if there is a really good reason not to do it.

Thanks,

-ch

What's confusing? I'm putting a lighting system in the pop-up that would require that I remove the limiter. Has anyone done this successfully without adverse affects? Simple question.

That's a secret.

It's an HID projector system.

I KNOW there are people out there that have hacked up the pop-ups for aftermarket lights...just looking for someone that's removed this part to see what effects they have observed, if any.

I do belive its the bump stop for the lights when down, it stops them jumping around when not up.

You will prolly find its adjustable as well with a bolt/nut on the back.

Removing it will make your lights jump on certain road serfaces.

Correct me if im wrong.

I can't see if yours is installed correctly, but it's supposed to be the stop when your headlights are up. It'll keep your headlights from vibrating when the lights are on.

CarbonR1, did you notice that the lights got any more bouncy with the stop removed? Like I said before I don't notice a lot of play when I adjust the bump out of contact with the bucket, but I haven't tested it on the road. Just want to know if you have any concerns having removed it already.

Thanks,

If you plan on going sleepy eye, then there's no way around it anyway, because that stop won't be in contact. Yes, it has some play when it's all the way up because the stop is not there anymore. I'm not TOO concerned about it.

Ok. I'm going to give it a whirl. Just a thought for the sleepy eye: you can do two things:

1) extend the fastener to make the pad go much lower
2) remove some metal from the bottom of the stay and use a mallet to bend it down

The latter works pretty well as it's made of very thin gauge steel. Bends easy.

I'm not going sleepy eye but still need the space.

Thanks,

-ch
