I check my oil everytime I pump gas, but I can't stand the fact that I'm always burning my wrist on the elbow....anyone else deal with this? If I could just get a dipstick a few inches longer it would be great.

(no jokes about getting my dipstick a few inches longer please)

 

Why don't you just check the oil when the engine is cold?

 

i dont have a problem with burning my hand, but i used to have a problem getting the dipstick back in the hole at night (no jokes, i can find ther other hole just fine).

i always wanted to get some glow in the dark paint or something to put around the hole. although ive recently noticed i can change my oil in the dark without spilling a drop and hardley getting my hands dirty.

 

Adam C's right, you don't really stand to gain anything by checking it hot. Do it before you leave in the morning.
