I was thinking of putting another pipe in the inside diameter of the exhaust tail pipe and then use a hammer to smooth out the dents. Good idea?

 

yes, your idea should work, its a techinque used by autobody repair men when straigtening out metal

 

What I would do also is place the tailpipe on sandbag to back it up while you are re contouring your tailpipe. By doing this you should have a smoother finish

A small metal hammer, preferably a ball peen with a rounded tip, will do the job VERY quickly and easily.

Of course, you'll still have an N1 Dual, and that's a bigger problem .

Is it really an N1 dual? I measured and each tailpipe is 3" in diameter. I guess I'll find out how loud they are.

Only bought it so I could switch out the existing cat converter so I can hopefully pass emissions at idle.
