anyone know about HURLEY seals?

Ive read that there is a set of hurley seals that actually increase torque numbers and gas milage...

have any of you used any of the Hurley apex seals?

What are the best seals for max boost??

just wondering

Not sure about the torque and gas mileage thing but I went with the 2mm Hurley race seals and springs - they are much more durable under boost and last longer than the stock 2mm and much more reliable than the 3mm. If your going to turn the boost over 12lbs - 2mm Hurleys are the way to go.

hey all

according to Nick at Rotary Reliability and Racing (he builds motors daily and has raced them to very high levels)..he says nothing beats the ceramic seals that mazda racing offers.

the hurleys are better than stock but he says that he has made seals like theirs that are supposed to increase torque and mileage and it simply doesnt work like they are claiming.

it seems that it is a case of false advertising....hehe

basically...the mazda ceramics will let u boost up to 24lbs on the 3mm and 19 on the 2mm. The hurleys arent doing that to my knowledge.

24 lbs of boost??? any of you ever do that? hahah...holy ****.

Im going ceramic three mm and getting my motor dowl pinned. I wanted the best seals possible and the ceramic mazdas are the ones I chose.

Goodfella has them on his car and they work really good for him, but I don't know about all the mpg talk.

3mm ceramics? Jeez..... you're gonna need to buy one of those parachutes to slow down

How much do the ceramics typically run for compared to stock seals, or hurlys?

I know people running some high boost on the Hurleys so I am not worried about that. ceramics are the best from what I have herd but @ like 1200 for apex seals I can not afford that. I just hope the 3mm Hurley's were not a mistake in my motor being built. I think they will be fine for what I am doing with my car tho.

we have used the 3mm hurleys for about a year and a half and they can take some serious abuse. these exact same set of seals has gone into 3 different motors( trying bridge, extended port, and full bridge turbo setups) and half held up very good with almost no wear. i don't know about the more power or torque but i do know they take abuse(mistakes).

Dave at KD Rotary swears by Hurleys. And he is one of the best engine builders in the country, hands down.....I have the 2mm double spring racing hurleys in my engine. No apex seal is going to give you power. They are just stronger for higher boost. As for the 19lbs of boost comment, thats just simply wrong. Gordon Monson has pushed well over that.

I am running the 2mm Hurley racing seals on my bigger streetport
built by KDR and with 18psi of boost. With 2600miles+ on the rebuilt I am satisfy by its performance. We will see how long it will last.

Thumbs up Hurley seals

I have the Hurley 2mm seals and am very happy with them. Steve Kan (pluto) is running 25psi (I saw it w/my own eyes) with 3mm hurleys and the motor is doing fine.

I am of the opinion that for a daily driver get the 2mm dual spring longlife racing seals. I've been told the motors w/3mm seals won't last as long.

My local shop is strongly recommending the OEM 3mm GSL-SE seals for high hp/high boost application. Cheap and supposedly very effective.

But I haven't heard anyone else really ever mention them. Anybody got any experience?

in my previous post i meant "have" instead of "half held up very good". as far as cost compared to se seals it is negligable as far as price difference goes.
