Not being a smartass but try searching on "wrecked cym". I think there was a thread on this car a while back and I don't think that guy made it. I think he was friends with some of the guys on here.

Here do you want to me to read it to you? LOL

That would probably be Trev Dagley, a friend of mine, who produced the FTL billet sway bar mounts and fiberglass M2 Performance intercooler ducting and cold air intake/hard pipe kit for the FD. Trev lived in Bremerton but the wreck occured very near his dad's house (it was his dad's car, Trev's VR R1 was non-operational) in Maple Valley, Washington.

The accident took place on June 24th, 2000. The cause of the accident was never determined, but the in-car camera footage (which ended prior to the wreck, because the camera was destroyed) indicated that he was well into 5th gear prior to leaving the road. I walked the crash site several times with his parents and helped reconstruct what took place after the car left the road, but why it left the road is still unknown. Visibility was good, at about 6:00 pm, and the road was dry. At some point, one tire went into the loose gravel at the shoulder and that was pretty much all it took.

The car travelled over 200 yards from the road, flipping end over end, touching only the rear and front of the car. Trev was ejected almost immediately despite having his seat belt on and died instantly according to the medical examiner. His friend Jon also died in the crash, but remained in the car and was found inverted in his seat, head under the dash, seatbelt still on. The car touched once at about 10 feet below road level, again farther on near the level of the road, and then cleared a hill roughly 15 feet higher than the road, hit a row of trees and slid to the ground where a portion of it burned as the filler neck separated from the gas tank.

Dang, thats gotta be the most wrecked fd i have ever seen! Usually when i see crashed fd's, they look like they have stood up pretty good. I have even seen lots of pics of FD's that have rolled a lot of times but they are nothing compared to what happen to this one.

Could their lives have been saved by a roll bar or a roll cage in a crash like that? Or wouldnt it have mattered?

**** I think I might have to invest in a roll cage or a roll bar.

Since the driver was thrown out of the car even with his seat belt on I think that he would have benefited from a 5pt harness and they might be around if they had a rollcage, I don't know about just a roll bar though. Sad, sad accident

I think in order to survive they would have needed a full cage and 5pt harness. Even then its questionable, nothing is certain at 150mph+

It looks like the roof was ripped off!!!

Very sad, next time you guys are going over 100mph, you should remember this pic and know that this is what will happen if you get a flat tire or hit a wierd dip or anything similar.

Makes you think twice doesnt it!!!!!

Sure does. I don't even ever want to speed anymore after thinking about this stuff for too long, although I know it's inevitable that I'll get back in to the habit of speeding. I was never one for triple digit speeds but I am really not all about them now. Damn maybe I'm begginning to wuss out as I'm getting older..

The worst part about it is you don't have to be going triple digit speeds to have stuff as bad as that happen..
