What type of hood are you looking for? That's not my car, but there you go... Personally, I don't like the look of them not painted...

Check the RX-7 Store:

Hmm..
I like the unpainted carbon fiber hood on other cars, but it doesn't look good on the FD's.
Definitely paint it.

I have a black car w/ a CF hood and everyone compliments on how well it blends together... I am second guessing on getting it painted now.

Do you have any pictures? I really want to bring down the temps under the hood and may go w/ it.... How does paint take to carbon fiber hoods? Some that I have seen have a distinct texture that would seem to cause problems w/ a painted finish? Any ideas on this?

I sold it without ever driving around with it. I didn't care for the look on red and decided that painting it would be a shame. I have bought the same thing in FG and had it painted to match.

I heard there isnt much of a weight advantage of a carbon fiber hood to really justify the price. (Since the stock hoods are so light) I heard the only real advantage is that some are vented so you can keep engine bay temps lower. DO they make an non-carbon fiber, but vented, aftermarket hoods for FD's?

It's MY car I like the look and the venting properties of the hood. If you'd like more pictures, go to:

Enjoy.

I guess everyone has forgotten about us.

We've still got the Mazdaspeed replica hoods in both Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber for sale in the group Buy section. Check it out:

If you want to paint it go with teh Fiberglass IMO
Streangth is very close, and weight savings is marginal for the CF over the FG. The real aid to the hood is the venting.
