anyone have this exhaust? Looks like a good deal

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33630

I'm was thinking about this one or the corksport but this looks like a homebrew exhaust setup. anyone have this exhaust. It's so cheap that I'm tempted to buy it. the only thing that worries me is they say that it can pass smog. i know this is an outright lie, it replaces the cat with a pipe so now way its true. that makes me wonder about the quality of this part.

I have the SS autochrome catback on my car, it's a nice piece and sounds pretty nice. It came with the car when I bought it, but I really like it and have no plans on changing it.

hey, if you look closely you will see that it is a cb and dp. LOOK you can see the o2 senser bug. Common, Thought you guys would notice this.

Haha, you can even see the 4 holes for the bolts on the stock turbos on the DP. There is no mp included in this deal...You have to use the stock CAT or buy a mp.

Maybe, but why would he point out that they blatantly lie about it being smog legal and say he is doubtful about the quality of the part?

I heard the ssautochrome exhaust and it's one of the loudest 3" I've ever heard, but didn't sound ricey or raspy, it's pretty deep. The fitment also isn't bad, the only thing is that the piping seemed exremely thin (my HKS catback seems about 3x as thick) and I don't know how long it will last. Mind you this was on a 240sx with a CA18DET, not an FD.

um yeah, if you read my post u see that i imply the sellers are crooked. first thing i saw was smog legal in their description and then i see their pipe replaces cat so there is not even a remot chance of passing smog, that is an outright lie.

nevermind...that exhaust is too big. it will get scraped everytime i go over a speed bump since my car is so low. anyone know if the corksport has more ground clearance?

If your car does not pass smog because you dont have a dp. Then you have more to be worried about. The precat is there for emissions start-up. Meaning when the car is first started. If your cat is either clogged or not hot enough then you will not pass. Also if your fuel is not leaned out enough.(stand alone) This pos exhaust is 280$ for a reason. The hks is 700+ for a reason. This is common sense. Stop being ricers and save your money to get quilty parts.

Once again I will say it. This exhaust setup replaces the precat, an cb. You have to retain the stock cat.
Good luck.

Ps:
My friends fd passed no problem with a ricer exhaust and dp. Anyone that doesnt believe me can pm me an I will direct you to him.

IMO if you buy quality parts you only buy the part once. They seem to fit better and once they are installed you don't have to worry about it anymore. So course this is my personal experience and believe me I don't have an unlimited budget. I rather save a little bit more and be a little patience. For me it works out in the long run. PEACE!

I have the ssautochrome midpipe and catback. I would have used the downpipe but I already had one. Fitment with my HKS downpipe was perfect, hangers fit perfect, and it sounds awesome. Its loud with the midpipe in there.

People on here say buy cheap get cheap obviously dont have this exhaust. There is nothing cheap about it. My car loves how well the exhaust flows.

Yes your right, I don't have that exhaust. I personally like APEX. Just my choice. I wonder how long will it last? I'm planning to keep my FD for ever and I don't plan to buy another exhaust for many years. Who makes that exhaust anyway?

It looks like my exhaust will last a long time.. it's stainless steel and looks to be great quality for the price.

Good for you my friend. I'm glad you like it and I hope it lasts for a very long time. To each their own. I personally have had a great experience with APEX and love it. Of course this is just my choice and my opinion. I am not an exhaust system guru and never will be.

I'd imagine part of the price difference is mainly because of the brand name of the exhaust "Apexi". Also I would bet that Apexi uses better material then this other company. I would think Apexi uses a thicker gauge for their exhaust. My GT feels very sturdy, heavy weight. Just by tapping the piping I can tell its some pretty thick gauge SS. Would be nice if we could see a cut out of both to compare. Me I would stay with Apexi, because I know its been tested and was built from the ground up specifically for the FD. But I have to admit from just the visual looks, it looks like a very nice exhaust system. And the price is very reasonable. The main thing is its stainless steel, so it should last for a long time.

My fear is that some kid who buys an FD is gonna want exhaust on it as the first mod and will buy it with a midpipe, put it on and blow up his engine. They say nothing about what exhaust mods can do to an unprepared car (meaning remapped ecu, ported wastegate etc.)
