My 94 is basicly stock except for a cat back and filters.

Now my boost problem comes and goes.Kinda works when it wants to.

At start up driving for about 4 mins the boost dont like to build.

After about 4 mins the car runs like a champ.

After about 10 mins the boost in the primary will build then sometimes fall back to 1psi and if I stay in it like that it will stay at 1 pound and this goes for the secondary. sometimes in second at around 7000rpm it will go back up.

But like I said sometimes it works sometimes it dont. I changed the turbo control solonoid hoping that was the cause but it wasnt.. I am at a lost any advise would help.

Who doesn't boost there car after 4 mins? After you start the car up it's usually warmed up by the end of the first block you drive it down. :p

 

Check the coupler to the Y pipe if you haven't already.

The DTCS on the car is specifically designed to keep you from boosting at high RPM on a cold engine, IIRC. I suspect this is at least part of the reason why the turbo response is less than expected in the first few minutes of running. Don't boost on a cold engine.

The drop to 1 psi after warm-up is probably a separate issue, and it does sound like something is wrong. There are a bunch of threads about diagnosing turbo problems on here, but I don't have links for you.

Yeah, it could be a multitude of things that cause a boost leak. How many miles on the motor/turbo's? Have you checked the wastegate(s) to make sure they're opening and closing properly? Just thinking about it, if a wastegate is stuck partially open, some exhaust gases would spool the turbo while others would divert through the wastegate.

Yeah, Max is right. The double throttle system will prevent you from boosting on a cold engine. So don't try until the engine is at operating temp.

 

I believe its the turbo control solenoid. i replaced the rats nest solenoid but not the other one.Didnt know it had two parts to it.So i will try tomorrow.

 

It takes approximately 3 miles and 10 minutes for my car to hit 82C from cold in urban driving.

Unless the block you drive down is somewhere in hell, I don't think so.
