Anyone have an AUTO fd with 4.33 gears?
I was wondering if anyone has an auto fd with 4.33 gears and how well they like it? I have an auto and was thinking about getting the gears my self to see how i like it before putting my manual tranny in. Also what are your cruising rpms at?

I have an auto FD. check out my sig. the 4.33 gears made a huge difference in the power band . the car is very responsive and made my mods so much better. the 4.33 gears are a must do mod for the auto guys. the 4.33 gears are stock mazda parts in the RZ FD'S so they fit like a glove in the rear end. just make sure to have the lash set by a reputable shop, and replace the seals while your in their. my cruising speed is off by about 5 MPH on the high side when I am doing 65 MPH my speedo is showing around 70 MPH so keep this in mind your speedo will be off by about 5 to 7 mph off.

ive been using the 4.10 setup for about a year and i am very pleased with the difference it made. i have been contemplating building a 4.33 rear end to pick up another 5% difference in ratio. switching 3rd members is much easier than a manual / auto conversion. the 4.33 should get you performance comparable to a similarly modded manual.
if you hear of a great deal on 4.33 gear sets, let me know.

Also does anyone know the what the lash should be set at? Most of the shops around here dont know anything about imports. If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you to have your gears changed out?

You can correct the speedo inaccuracy by obtaining a RZ speedo gear from Mazda. When I went to a manual transmission I put the automatic's speedo gear on my manual speedo sensor/drive so that it would be accurate. I couldnt afford to get the 4.10 diff yet, but I plan to go 4.33 when I can upgrade.

I was going to run a 4.33 or a 4.10 (Both are pretty easy to obtain from Japan used and 4.10's go for $20 to $30 if you know someone over there who is willing to hunt them down for you.) but I ended up making so much power my tranny was starting to let go so I had to back the boost back down and detune a bit.
Which is rather sad, my car feels so slow now.
