Anyone have a *secret* for cahnging the plug wires?
Need to change my wires and I've been using the RobRobinette site for most of my "do it yourself" projects. Well, I had everything off but the throttle body, and I think the only thing I couldn't get off of it was the hose on the underside.
Anyone have a tip on an easy way to get the hose off?

You don't need to pull off the throttle body to change the wires. You just need to take off the intake pipe and the oil filler tube. You can get to all 4 coil connections with these 2 off. Worked for me.

Youll need some pliers to remove the throttle body coolant hose. It's stuck on there by one of those damned mazda clamps that are a PITA to remove. Remove the clamp and it should come off easily, just try not to spill too much coolant all over the place

m0t03....use robrobinette.com or scuderiaciriani.com...they both have helpful advice.
Yeah, I got the clamp off, but Mazda uses so much damn overlap on their hoses I couldn't get it off, I just gave up. I was just wondering if it's easier to get to it from underneath or if there was another way to make it easy.

have u tried WD-40? spray some on and let it sit, and then try loosening it from side to side...usually works for me.
I think from the top is the easiest... once the throttle body is off, they are in plain view, plenty of room to work with

So what about the oil filler whatever...I've heard that it needs to be moved then some people say it's fine the way it is?!??
Also, what is the stock wire size? I got the Magnecore 8mm wires but some people said that with aftermarket wires the boots will pop off if you don't zip-tie them?!?!?!

they wont pop off, you just need to "burp" them on.
and you always TURN a hose off that is stuck.
and whoever asked for robs site http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/

Put the front up on ramps or jackstands or whatever. remove the elbow get underneath and go to work. its alot easier if you have someone else up top pointing out stuff but its not really that tough of a job. when i first changed my wires it was a bunch of bs since two of the wires were like melted on the plugs. took a little while to get them off but no big deal. dude....if you need help just ask, i am in the area you know BTW....new classes at DeVry SUCK! how about yours?
