Question Anyone ever had very slow RPM build-up w/ lots of backfire?

I'm having very slow RPM build-up w/ lots of backfire when i first start my car up. After it warms up if I rev up to 6-7K i get some pops and bangs and it clears it up and it drives normally, like a bat out of hell. Can't for the life of my figure out what would bog up the engine intermittantly after 10+ hours of shut-off. Just wondering if anyone else has had this type of problem before and if they figured out what it was. Thanks.

Sounds like fouled plugs to me. I'd check/change them. I had similar problems, although to a lesser extreme and found that my plugs were totally black and the ceramic had even busted loose.

I believe it's very normal to get backfiring when you let off the gas (mine does it). I think the problem nrolfes1 was referring to (which is usually plugs) is when you're trying to rev it, it misses and won't take gas.

No problem. It scared me at first, but I've grown to really enjoy the backfiring. In fact, when I turn off the car, about a second later I get a hollow Poohhnnnngg! Really grown to like that one for some sick reason....I actually sit around and wait for it.....

Only backfiring I ever got was a shutdown when I would get an occasional "pffffffBBBT!"

Now with the M2 catback I pop a bit when upshifting; I like it Not loud enough to be a nuisance, but it sounds mean.
