Anyone ever cleaned the inside of a catback?
I just spent the weekend cleaning out my exhaust parts. The carbon build up was alot due t omy G-force computer and a bad o2 sensor. I washed the inside of the DP, and MP. It lloked like nestle quick was being flushed out of the pipes. I was wondering if the muffler can be cleaned out. I own a RB dual and was wondering if the baffles would allow degreaser and water to run through it. Dont know if it would actually make it worse(shifting around carbon). My muffler isnt as free flowing as others, so i was just curious.

Kinda like my RB. Keeps the stock look and the MP quiet. I guess not alot of people ever look inside their MP. But running as rich as I am at open throttle, that stuff just sticks on the inside of your pipes.

Maybe you can contact Mini Me or Tatum (from Fantasy Island) to help you. With their little hands they might be able to clean inside of your cat back and leave it "spic and span".

You must have one flawless FD to pick that "project" over any of the other myriad maintenance tasks these cars need.

I think he is more concerned about the restriction caused by massive build up.
Does the RB use packing material or baffles? If it's baffles you should be able to use pressurized water and some nasty cleanser. If it uses packing you would probably wash all the loose carbon into the packing material rendering it useless.

Thank you Tyson. My concern was for the restrictive aspect of it. SInce RB is one of the more restrictive cat backs, I was wondering if the build up of carbon would further restrict my flow. When i wash the MP, theres a 1/4 inch of soot around the pipe. So ican imagine whats going on with the muffler. I think it does use packing. Ah well.
