anyone ever ask you this?
BTW, anyone who talks trash about corvettes has never driven an auto-x prepped 'vette. I had the opportunity to ride shotgun in the car that won BSP at nationals this year, it is a blast. I haven't ridden in a prepped RX-7 yet, but I wonder if it would be able to compete against the instant torque that the V8 produces.

Standard Question
'What kind of car is that?'
My standard answer -
'A very fast one', and walk away.

PS - definitely gotta give the 'vette props, folks. The C5R has done very well respresenting itself in the GTS class in ALMS. Good races between it, the s7 Mustang, and the Ferrari 550LM.
Oh, and Jim - I know someone who worked on the GM rotory powered concept cars. The Corvette almost got one ... who knows what may have happened.

I'm aware it's not a Mustang, but you can't deny the heritage or Saleen's background. Technically, most of the cars past the GT series don't have much connection to their stock origins. The c5R, s7, Viper Comps, bmw's, Porsche Cup cars and Jags keep only the skin, but the guts change dramatically.

NO sorry.... geez, that's not what i meant at all. i was just saying that the S7 has no heritage its not derived from the mustang at all (as far as i've ever understood) and then as a SECONDARY note i was saying that i got a new question asked of me today. soo sorry for the misunderstanding there
No worries
I was just surprised that you had 350K to drop on an s7 (when they're still only taking orders) AND you were 'working on a dp and cat-back' in your sig. With that kind of change, the only reason you'd be working on it was if you were building your own smelting factory....
Kit car .... geez, what are these people thinking? However, I had a young boy compliment me on my Shelby Cobra .... only problem was I was driving my Triumph TR6 roadster at the time.....kids nowadays....

Yeah, I got that, Jim.
I had shifted to people calling his rx7 a kit car, not his s7.

i think its been settled, but just for the record, NO i don't have, nore sadly will i ever, have an S7. i'm a mechanical engineer so i'll use the same excuse here as i do anywhere else in life... i communicate all day with numbers, graphs and 3D cad models... english is pretty much my 3rd or 4th language anymore
triumph TR6 huh beast? i had a 1974 Triump Spitfire 1500 for my first car
as much trouble as an RX7 can be, i still think that was by far the worst "love/hate" relationship i'll ever have with a car.

Not just a Triumph
I still have the car - modded to Group 44 racing specs. Triple Weber DCOE40s, .030 over, moly pushrods, racing cam, headers, Koni's, urethane bushings, ...... doesn't go or sound stock.

Of ALL people, JAY LENO, a car freak, didn't even know his ****!! Couldn't believe it! Any way, that Bently was way cool.

Hello-
Unfortunately, it can't compare :-(.
That's why, I suspect, the Vettes are ruling the auto-x circuit right now. Their suspension is good, but so is an FD. The problem is that auto-x doesn't have any real straightaways - the times to accelerate are very short... and we have turbo lag. Brake before the corner, pull through, give it power, and it takes time to get accelerating. That's a big problem! And, even when we have full power, we only have 255hp to 2800lb, so 11.0lb/hp., whereas a Z06 has 405hp to 3100lb, so 7.7lb/hp (assuming stockish-like configuration). It's not so much that it handles any better... it just has a crapload more power and zero lag to get it.
Take care,
Shad

The best story i have is when a guy in a fly yellow 911TT pulled up next to me on Westhimer in Houston at a light, he flashed for me to roll down the window, so i indulged him, he said sweet 3rd gen, i used to have one just like it, i said, looks like your moving up in the world. then unfortunatley he smoked my fuc*in ace!!!! oh well, at least he had respect for the 7, and knew his ****.
