Nengun had tried organizing a group buy on these a few months ago at SMASHING prices. A member tried spreading the word on here, but the thread got locked because another vendor / moderator pointed out the fact that Nengun wasn't a paid vendor, so no one could even mention the awesome deal they were putting together. In the end, they didn't hit their goal numbers, but the the deal still happened and was a GREAT price.

Unfortunately, one of the participants worked the credit card system, issued a chargeback with a BS excuse, and Nengun got burnt for $2000. So I completely understand why they might have a bad taste in their mouth about these kits.

That said, I too was under the impression that the group buy was a last ditch effort before these were to be discontinued. It's a shame, because it's an EXTREMELY nice kit.

They should have just paid the small free to do a group buy on here. Talk about Penny Wise/Pound Foolish....

Totally agree. However, they don't really lose out on anything by not being a vendor. It's the RX-7 community that loses out when information is suppressed. It's not like there's huge margin in parts in general, let alone deeply discounted group buys.

That said, losing a $2000 chargeback will put a damper on anyone's day (and books for the month/year). Paying a vendor fee doesn't protect you from that.

The guy I was mailing with treated me like a f-cking leper.

I was ready to order, card in hand ready to spunk £1500, but he got all shitty when I asked him to contact Greddy to confirm fitment and confirm which fan extension cable I needed.

Told me he was an expert in the kits but I should talk to a tuner to confirm fitment.

I run a customer service desk covering 2/3rds of the globe and if anyone on my team had conversed with a customer in the way he conversed with me they'd be out the door with my boot 3 feet up their ****.

Anyway, Greddy's UK distributor states they are no longer available despite being listed on the Trust Japan site and appearing on YJA regularly.

Afaik you build a business around a customer base. If I plan to go fishing I go to the pond with all the fish in it.
Loses are a part of doing business but is another subject entirely and has no bearing on why or why not to take advantage of the built in customer base in this forum. All one needs to do is go to the group buy section and look.

Any company that takes credit cards deals with charge backs.

Doesn't surprise me as Nengun trolled this forum without paying vendor fees to funnel potential customers, then set up their own group buy. The problem with a non paying individual selling parts on here is two fold: there is less protection for the buyer, and it isn't fair to those of use who do pay the required fees, are here to help with tech support, and continue to contribute to the community, not just make a sale and be done with the customer. But yes I have also heard that Greddy is discontinuing a lot of their fd products. The cars are old and their just isn't the demand for the parts that there used to be.

Damn that's disappointing that Greddy is already planning to discontinue this kit. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't this Vmount kit only been out for around 2 years?

Well, I'd like to know where that rumour came from.

I see SBG posting that it's maybe already discontinued immediately after I post an e-mail directly from TRUST saying they still absolutely make the kit.

From the email you received its obvious that they're making the kit to this day still, but Im wondering how long it's going to be before they decide to discontinue it.

Also don't be surprised if you get a collections invoice from DHL of whoever these companies used to ship the v mounts a few months after you received the kit for improper taxes or shipping/handling fees. I've had several customers report receiving these.

Oh don't worry about that, I sure as hell won't be using Nengun after the way they dealt with my query.

I import from Japan 7/8 times a year minimum and well over 90% of packages don't get hit for taxes with the broker I use.

If they do c'est la vie.

I didn't see your response before I posted. I had half written a response on the screen but was hoping to get a call back from our Greddy USA rep so I could post more detailed info.

Yes, there are plans to discontinue quite a few FD parts and parts for other low-selling chassis as well... But they won't say EXACTLY when. From a business perspective why would they keep low sales volume / hard to produce products around forever? This stuff does in fact have a lifespan. FRS/BRZ parts sell like hot cakes... and the FD is old and small sales volume.

We had to retire a few products ourselves after interest/sales dropped off. When everyone that needs one bought one, and the sales disappear, you have to weight the cost to do production runs and keep low selling parts on the shelf, no matter how "good" they are... It's just natural product progression. We've hit that roadblock with our Aluminum Door Handles, HID Headlights, etc. Everyone expects them to be available forever but freak out when they're not available to order when they finally need them. Even Mazda has done this with many many OEM FD parts, starting with interior pieces and now moving to other parts. Floor mats, door panels, interior plastics, replacement motors... All gone. The FD is reaching collector status, and the parts availability will begin to dry up.

Back on topic, there are no kits in the states. We received our last one 3 months ago, and I've had a request in to let me know when more arrive... I'm still waiting on concrete details as to how many will be available and when.

Shoot us an email/message if anyone wants to be on an interest list... We've been waiting on these v-mounts for three months.

Here's the latest update:

So we've gotten word back from Japan... there are 15 kits left total. They will not say if this is the last production run or not, only that they can not supply more than they have in stock in Japan, and that we can NOT pre-order more than 15. There are ZERO left in inventory in the US!

Lead time is 3-4 weeks for delivery to SakeBomb from Japan once the order is placed, and roughly one week to customers in the US (slightly longer if you're international). We're working out details with Greddy Japan now...

Please PM or email us if you want in: info@sakebombgarage.com

Maybe IRP and or Sakebomb would be interested in doing a group buy for these last 15 kits?
Just chumming the water. I might be in on this myself.

I wasn't looking for this yet (other things higher up on the list), but.... due to their possibly being discontinued, if there was a group buy discount or some savings to be had, I could be convinced to join in.
