Anybody Speak Smog?

So I'm trying to smog the FD:

DYI Atkins 3mm rebuild (600 miles).
HKS Downpipe.
Stock ECU.
Stock Cat (fails with Bonez cat too).

And we see the following:

HC: 73
CO: 2.69
CO2: 12.60
NOX: 72
O2: 0.00
RPM: 1784
MPH: 15.41

and

HC: 12
CO: 0.01
CO2: 12.50
NOX: 116
O2: 2.35
RPM: 1922
MPH: 24.05

If this is meaningful to anyone, I would appreciate any suggestions that might help in indentifying the problem(s). I'm reading the documentation on my PowerFC and will try putting that on and tuning it for smog.

Thanks...

do you happen to have the limits of CO NOx and HC?

Not really, he indicated that CO was the big problem.

Seems pretty clean for the 25mph test. Looks like you're running a little rich in the lower levels though.

CO is carbon monoxide and is partially burned fuel. You have 0.00 O2 because all of the oxygen is used in combustion and you are left over with some partically burned fuel.

Try taking out a little fuel in the lower levels and that should get your parameters better.

Is the 2 test results from the 15 mph and 25mph tests? (Or whatever the speeds are, I forget ATM)

Thanks, that's what I plan on doing. I guess 15 and 25 mph is the standard now, these were pre-testing snapshots.

I assume your air pump and ACV are working correctly?

Could be a problem with your O2 sensor/feedback loop. If/when you install the PFC, you can pretty easily tune it (with datalogit) for smog test (look for post with my name) but much more importantly is you will need to tune the PFC for your car across all RPM and boost combinations as well as timing and a myriad of other items. Best to have professionally done unless you know what you're doing.

When I bought the car, the ACV housing was cracked and glued. I bought a couple ACV valves, disassembled, cleaned (ultrasonic and bead blasting), and reassembled the best parts. I just pulled the Air Relief Valve Hose, almost no flow at idle, increasing flow with revs until the pump cuts out (flowing hard) at limit. Seems to be OK.

scope your oxygen sensor and make sure its workin... single wire oxygen sensors dont work too good unless theyre really hot. you said it failed with another cat theni ts probably not your cat. oxygen sensors are actually a common failure for obd1 cars. mine looked almost the same and thats all mine was.
