Anybody have 60-90 mph times for their car?
I just did three runs in 3rd gear in my car WITH a 200 lb passenger and got numbers ranging from 3.70-3.75 sec going from 60-90 mph. For this test I floored at 50 and started timing when the speedo hit 60. Anybody else done this and have a number? My mods are 11 psi and M2 stage 3. This was on flat ground in 70 degree still air.

i think technonovice started a thread about this. I believe you have to go WOT from 60 not 50 tho.
Hows the car been? I got your PM, still got my cell#? just drop by whenever to drop it off

I'd have to agree with Aristo to say that the 60-90 mph 3rd gear test would really tell how fast our cars are in our powerband. The 40-70 3rd gear test was pretty cool but seemed to lose interest. Seems like the 3rd gen guys anymore are into how a FEED hood or wing looks on their car rather than how their car performs. It's almost depressing reading the 3rd gen section anymore since there are so many problems with FDs and if somebody does post an interesting topic some idiot will tell them to do a "search" - I'll try the 60-90 test, sounds cool, but I'm getting some break up in my ignition at higher rpms so don't think I'll get good numbers until I get it fixed. Hopefully some other 3rd gen guys are up to it.

I think Felix has this info on his FAQ page. We do this quite often for the first gens and YES, it is a great way for power testing. http://mrmazda.members.atlantic.net/
Somewhere there he has times. It might just be for first gens. maybe for FD's too. Too bad magazines don't do this test!

I don't think that tests like these using a stopwatch is dead accurate but the 2 40-70 runs that I did were both the same time exactly so it can't be off that much. Not everyone has a g-tech or cartest2000 to be very accurate

ill do the test tommorw.
gtech is very accurate, i took it with me once to a 1/4 miles strip and every run i did it posted the same time as my slip did the gtech was only off by .01 secs! everytime and the mph as always higher on the gtech cause on the track they take the average speed of the last 20 feet of the your 1/4 mile and the gtech just takes it right at the end of the 1/4. gtech works perfect on nice even surfaces. its great to practice launching the car and doing the 0-60 and trying to improve that.

I don't think this will help you with any new science. My FD has about 1200 miles on a new engine and I am trying to press it a little now. I hit an on ramp in third about 50 mph and ran it up to 6200 rpm, shifted to 4th with the foot down and backed off at 100 mph for the next off ramp. It was so fast that my wife didn't even notice to complain.

Oh, I'll try to time a 60-90 run tomorrow and see what I get with a downpipe and cat-back.
