Soak the studs in liquid wrench over-night! Then have at it!

Yep, soak the studs, they can be a pain, you don't want one of them to break.

I work on jet engines and the best stuff we have found to loosen nuts in hotsections is wintergreen oil....give that a try...you can find it in health stores and drugstores.

- if the studs come out (some will) replace them with the appropriate bolts...will make things easier in the future

-super glue the gasket to the downpipe beforehand if there are no studs to hang it from

- soak the nuts in liquid wrench or pb blaster

From my experience:

-Expect it to take a while, give yourself all day incase you need it
-Yes soak the studs in something, whatever you please, I used liquid wrench
-Work on getting the nuts of the studs while leaving the studs in, if the stud comes out, no big deal, you'll just have to put it back in
-As far as bolts vs. studs, search the forum, read the debates, and make your decision.
-I'd say replace the O2 sensor, it can't hurt.
- Once the pre-cat it out, take a minute to feel how heavy it is compared to the downpipe, huge difference.

Hi guys,

I dont wanna seem like I'm hi-jacking his thread...but is it true that if you break the stud that you have to remove the whole turbo assembly?

How easy is it to break the studs from the turbo housing? Also if the studs end up having to come off, what size bolts would you use?

thanks
