Any tips, About to do hose Job

I was pulling off my manifold, so I could get it polished. I look down and freaking broke the nipple on the double control solenoid, but since the hoses are so brittle, Iam about to do a Brain transplant on my 7. Any suggestions .

what do you mean by double control?

the double throttle? if that is it, remove the double throttle, go on rob robinette site.

if you do the hose jobs, take a lot of notes.

yes but you will have to be gentle on the throttle when the car is cold since the protection isn't going to be there anymore.

Get an xacto knife and gently cut the hoses, the solenoids are brittle as hell from the heat, any pressure and you'll be paying 50 bucks a pop for them. Good luck.

I used a cheap cigar cutter. Hose Techniques supplies with their kits. It made quick work of getting a great cut on the hoses.

Don't forget about the turbo control pills they are in the middle of a couple of the hoses located near the turbos.

The little cigar thingy works good but I found that a Craftsman Easycut (or what ever those things are called) works much better.

I am just about finished with my hose job.... the only trouble I had was on 2 parts. First the hoses around the TCA, It's really hard to get down in there with tools. Next the hoses back by the secondary turbo (there are like 5 or 6) tools hard to get in there too. Good luck, looks pretty nice when finished

I would recommend plenty of valium with a beer chaser. This is the most diabolical job on a 3rd gen and if you can do it correctly you are a MAN. Take tons of notes, digital pictures for reference and don't forget to test the solenoids and check valves or you will be very sorry. It will take MUCH longer than you think if you do it correctly - probably a week your first time. Really.
If you can afford it have someone else do it. It's worth it.

Amen to that, but make them curved tip, hose pliers. They are out there somewhere (SnapOn?) and will save tons of grief. Really an essential tool.
