Any ideas for how to ADD mileage to an odometer?

I just bought a brand new speedometer/odometer from Malloy and would prefer to have the correct mileage of my car onthe odometer. I know I read somewhere here, I think from Dale Clark about some way to hook up the cluster so that the speedo gets a signal to think it's going a certain speed, therefore slowly adding miles to the odometer.

Anyone have an idea how to do this?

Thanks,

Ian

Just contact your local dealership and tell them you have a dash replacement. Ask them about getting the mileage transferred to the new cluster.

In 1972 Congress passed the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act, popularly known as the Odometer Act , which may be found at 49 U.S.C. 32701. which grants DMV the power to enforce the federal law. Dealers and others who violate the law in face criminal charges, lawsuits by a District Attorney or the Attorney General to enforce the law and lawsuits for money damages by private individuals like yourself.

What does that mean?

All I know is that there are some shops that will roll your odometer for you if you produce suitable evidence that it's not being done fraudulently. So for example, recent documents with mileage and the existing odometer. If you arrive with an odometer with xxxxx miles and you leave with a different odometer with the same mileage, there is no room for fraud.

I did it on my '99 Legacy. When I had the speedo out, all I did was take the little plastic gear off of all the numbers and roll them to the correct mileage and put the gear back down and installed the speedo. I don't know if that helps or if they're the same on the RX-7, but that's my experience.

Won't work on an FD. The odometer is digital.
