Any Ideas?

I went to start my car this morning, and when i turned the key to start it i got no lights and the engine didnt turn over, the symptoms were exactly that of a dead battery, so anyway i then tried once again, by turning the key over and then slowly the engine turned over and the car started. Any ideas what could be causing this problem? could it be a bad starter?

it could be the starter. did you take a voltmeter to the battery and see what kind of charge its holding while running and while its off? did you turn the car off after your drive and then start it back up? if so what happened. it could be the starter, i beleive the starter has a little solenoid in it that spins, if a section of it goes bad then you might not start the car, but it could start again. i had two starters go bad on a honda and my acura, i'm not trying saying their all the same, but if they are then that could be your problem.

Sounds like a worn clutch switch, just play with the clutch with your foot until it turns over.

Where is the clutch switch located? can i easily get to it? my dad was guessing that it would be the switch to, so i think i will go with it as being the possible problem first, so where is it, how can i get to it, and how much would it cost to replace the switch?

Whaaaaat??

Ok B4 you go pulling things apart that have not broke or R the root of the problem. Either I didn't read your first post right or you are getting false diagnoses from members that don't pay attention to detail. You said you get "NO LIGHTS & THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER"? Yes I believe that is what you said, than sir you need to clean the terminals on your battery that is if your battery is good. If you have a battery with dead cells, U can find out if you battery has dead cells with a Hydrometer found @ your local Auto part store, witch would cause that long drawn out start that you speak of. If for some un-Godly reason it is your clutch switch I would like apologize in advance to those I may have offended.

As for the search, you asked about where the clutch switch is located. I provided a link that has all the details you need.

If you had no lights or anything and then it suddenly started working, then start checking all the wiring and anything that has to do with the ignition.

It's probably a short but you are going to have to put in the wrench time. You have to start narrowing things down as this is probably not a problem someone will be able to say "this is exactly what you need to do".

When you turn on the switch you should get lights .Clutch switch does not control the dash lights so why find the clutch switch ? If you did not have dash lights ,clean the battery connections and check the battery voltage. if on the second try you got dash lights this could be a weak battery and bad battery cables or cable connections, play with the clutch switch if you want.
