Any good details on the (new?) RX7STORE carbon fiber intake?

Hey all,

I just noticed that the RX7STORE is selling their own carbon fiber cold air intake system now. It looks like the M2 one and uses the K&N filters, but is less expensive and doesn't have the white "M2" lettering on the box (which is a plus since I am going for a "darker" look in the engine bay).

I'm just wondering if anyone has used one yet? My questions are --

- Does it fit better than the M2 one or does it have fitment issues with the radiator?
- Does the top of the box scrape the underside of the hood or is it lower/smaller/whatever like I've heard the RX7Fashion one is?
- I plan on getting an ASP/M2 medium SMIC next year, I imagine the fit would be just fine with this CAI while keeping the battery where it is?
- What are your general thoughts about this box?

Thanks guys!

Personally I would go with the m2 and it all depends on whether or not you want to go fmic. It wont work with the fmic as it says on the site. I dont like to deal with rx7store they suck in my opinion. I had a bad experience with them and they werent very helpful at all with it or sympathetic. I have the greddy intake on my car love the way it looks and they all perform the same way. Its all based on looks with what you want. I think that their intake you dont have to remove anything or move anything. It does look good but I would rather spend more money on the intake than giving them money.

Hahaha, I just looked at the pic on the rx7store site. It's clearly just a pic of the M2 but with a black box photoshopped over the logo.

Check out what that section of the image looks like when enlarged:

(I have made no alterations to the source image, just enlarged and cropped it.)

One possible explanation is that no pictures of the rx7store airbox exist yet, so this picture is being used to give an idea of what the product will be.

Still, one would presume that if this was the case then the website would make a note of the picture not being of the actual item.

I sure wish Jason would reply to this post. Then he could give me the details about his CF CAI *and* tell us what's up with the M2 pic at the same time!

The RX7Store has been known for "stealing" images. The Diff. Brace pic on that website is from Damian's car, the turn signals are from BoxBoy's car.

To answer questions:

At the time I did not have a pic of the airbox so I photochopped an M2. They look identical and will get a pic up of our box. There are no fitment issues with the box.

WaLieN, if a pic is posted to this site then guess what, I can use it. Its not stealing! If someone doesnt want their pic on the site then let me know and I will take it down.

This box just came out. Its identical to the M2 box minus the M2 logo. You cant even tell a difference.
As far as it scraping the hood Im not sure about that but have not had any complaints from the people that have purchased it.

That is why I called it "stealing," instead of stealing. You are technically not stealing it, as it is public domain.

Jason,
If people are bitch'in about using there pics, feel free to use mine. I have some of the intake box at my home page. Bump for a good intake! Also, I was able to use the intake with my front mount by getting my piping re-done.

You should still let people know the pic is _NOT_ the actual product.

Assud if you see it like this then none of the pictures in any online shop are the actual products. You just get an identical one brand new, but not the particular one you see on the pic. Am i right? Except if it's used and the owner posts the "actual product", the one you see there that's the one you get. So if Jason says its identical then yes he can use that pic.

I will change it when I get a chance. If the intake was alot different than the M2 then I wouldnt have used that pic, but its so similar you wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

What happened that made you so unsatisfied with their customer service? If you don't want to post that on the forum then PM the answer to me.

Thanks
