Any advice or insight welcome
I originally posted this in the new member technical, but didn't get much of a response. If anyone on the main forum has anything to add, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have something to do with the AWS, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to confirm. It also seems like the colder it is, the worse the problem is. I started it up at about 30 degrees the other morning and it wasn't happy. Lots of missing and white smoke that smelled so rich I thought I was going to pass out. There is no indicators that it is coolant. https://www.rx7club.com/new-member-rx-7-technical-256/rough-idle-when-engine-cold-993933/

I don't know what the problem is. It does sound like your cold start might be a little rougher than usual.
Your previous post said the FSM mentioned the coolant temp sensor but you couldn't get to it. You may be a able to check the resistance at a connector.
I believe this would be a 2 wire sensor. If so look on a wiring diagram and see if these 2 wires go in the same direction away from the sensor. They may both go to the ECU. If you can find a connector that has both of them in it unhook and take your readings there. The extra wire won't throw the readings off that much.
You could check your purge control solenoid and see if it is leaking, if so you are purging at startup which I think could cause rough running.
