antifreeze leak
antifreeze leak
I rencently added antifreeze and i noticed that there is a hole at the top of the tank so when you fill up to that point it will leak out. I am guessing that that is so that you do not overfill? when i drive somewhere and park, and later return to my car, there is a spill of antifreeze underneath the vehicle. I am assuming that it is getting too hot or pressure is causing the antifreeze to rise and overflow through that same hole. is this possible? The strange thing is that when i added some today, and pulled into my driveway, the antifreeze leaked even though my engine was not very hot. can someone help me out?
hole at the top of the tank?
which tank?
filler neck?
air seperation tank?
overflow tank?
my guess is that you can't see the overflow tank from an untrained eye (no offence) so you're most likely talking about the Air Seperation Tank. that nozzle attaches to a hose that runs to the overflow tank. if not connected it WILL drop coolant.

You are putting way too much coolant in, just go by the dipstick on overflow tank, it has "full" marked on it.
If you are getting the coolant coming out of the overflow on a regular basis and having to add coolant, I'd suspect your Air Separation Tank has a bad cap. For some reason these things tend to NOT have a very long life, I've replaced several of them. What basically happens is they get to where they leak and the system won't pull coolant back OUT of the overflow when it contracts as it cools down. The "overflow" tank is really a common expansion tank.
