Anti-Freeze type and ratio

Hi all.
Which type of anti-freeze is the best. As I know exist the different colors - green, pink, blue and etc.
And which ratio I must use?

I would stick with the green (ethylene-glycol), and use a 50/50 antifreeze to distilled water ratio. Do not use tap water - it contains too many contaminents.

I agree with sticking with the green stuff but the FSM specifies a 70/30 mixture.

IIRC, the FSM recommends a MAXIMUM ratio of 70/30. The 50/50 is standard.

Depends on how cold it gets where you live. It never really freezes in Phoenix so I run 75% water. Water has better cooling properties than coolant so the less coolant the better cooling you get. The trade off is coolant raises the boiling temp and lowers the freezing point. When I lived in Colorado I ran more of a 50/50 because freezing was an issue.

I'm running 80/20 (green) and works well...i was running 50/50 but in the summer and it almost boiled in traffic...when I did the 80/20 the traffics conditions temp became normal.

I meant max 70% antifreeze, min 30% water. Lower % A-F down to where it doesn't protect from corrosion will give better heat transfer, and lower engine and coolant temps.

60/40 distilled water / anti-freeze. I also add water pump lubricant and anti-corrision/rust inhibitor. I use Mercedes Benz anti-freeze.

+1 for the Benz coolant. I aim for 50/50.

I just changed mine. I used water wetter, then i used pre mixed 50/50 until it was empty(1 gallon) then i filled the rest with distled water(close to a gallon,if i remember)

I dont worry about freezing in FL to often. I guess if/when i move back to KY, ill use closer to 50/50

Don't use water wetter it degrades the water seals over time.

I've read several of your posts stating this, I've stayed away from it ever since.

I run EVAN's NPG+ and love it. No water percentage no pressure no problems.
