Another weird coolant issue

I have a newly rebuilt engine with greddy fmic, fluidyne radiator, heater core by passed, ast by passed. When I try to bleed air out using a funnel while the car is idling, i noticed that once thermostat opened (82c), I have some air bubble that always comes out to the surface, is this normal in a coolant system? Also my water level in the water neck always sit some what low, it's always around 4-5 inches below the opening. My mechanic thinks this is normal. There are no external leaks as far as I can see, I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that the radiator is installed vertically? Some owners install bleeders on top of the radiator. If it is indeed air pocket on top of the radiator, how long or what do I have to do to get rid of it?

Any fmic owner with vertical radiator can share your experience with coolant burping?

Thanks !

I have purged quite a bit of air by taking the car to the steepest incline I can find around here (8% or so) and drive up and down, stop and start, turn around a few times, etc.

Get the nose of your car pointed down and perhaps massage the radiator hoses to gush the coolant through the radiator you might get some air out.

I assume you've disconnected the throttle body coolant line to get the air out of that high spot.

If you continue to see bubbles after the thermostat opens, well, that could be a bad sign. Search for "champagne"
