Another stock alarm post...

Let me begin by saying I suck at searching. I tried for about 20 minutes, and couldnt find any posts about people actually wanting to ACTIVATE their stock alarm.

But anyways, my stock alarm "beeps" when i lock my doors, but it doesnt go off. It has never alarmed, even when I try the test by locking the doors and then opening it through the window.

I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with it, or where to even start looking. I know the box is behind the drivers kick panel, and all the harnesses are plugged into it, but other than that, I have no idea. I do know that when I shut my car off, I can lock my doors and push the button on the door (the one that makes the interior light go on/off) and everytime i push it, it beeps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Turn engine off, get out of car. Lock drivers door (passengers door locks). Close door. Interior lights go out (if not alarm will not activate - eg hatch open sensor failure etc) but alarm light is on. Drivers door must be the last to close. After 10-15 sec. alarm beeps quietly, alarm light goes out and starts flashing and is set. Then if you unlock without using the key, the alarm should sound. If this doesn't happen, first check the drivers door key switch. There is a wire off this that must be connected for the alarm to function (it's what shuts it off). I don't remember if it grounds or what, but you can check this contact with a meter. I jammed a drying cloth in the hatch latch and it disabled the factory alarm last year (until I got it out), so this is another thing to check.

Thanks, yea I forgot to mention, my alarm light never lights up. Even with the key on accessory, the Overheat Exhaust Sytem light lights up, but not the security light.

My security light also does not light up on start up, and my security system is working fine. I don't have any explanation otherwise, just putting in the light up thing.

If you are beeping on door lock, the system should be arming, and the security light should go on solid. If you get a beep but no light, the next question is when you close the locked door with the handle up, do you hear a beep 10 seconds after the door is closed? I'm wondering if you have two problems: 1) the security light is burned out; and, 2) the system is not getting out of the pre-armed stage II. Go through the manual on this, it's pretty detailed!

I get the initial beep, but no beep after that. No light up on the button, just the single beep when I lock the door. I've tried locking it by hand, and holding the handle to close it, and also from the key on the outside. Ill go through the manual, thanks for the help.

i want to fix the problem, rather than just cover it up. its free anyways, new alarms are more money that could go towards mods.
