Unhappy another no start thread

i was helping my friend put in his rebuild motor. its a stock 93. tonight we tried to start it but no go. as the motor was cranking. it did seem like it wanted to start, but no go. have spark and fuel but not too sure of compression. we went around it and went with a push start. started up drove fine, sounds decent, but shuts off right when you let off the throttle. im not sure how the timing works on the fd; so i like to assume thats the problem...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: i did also try to search and came up with some CAS and compression possibility. that will be my next step.

im just not sure cuz it did run decent with the push start.

how do you adjust the tps? i was looking through the SM and it said u needed some gizmo for it.

on another note, which way does the CAS go in? does the 2 sensor do the same job as long as the white connector is on top? i was looking at the 2 and one was marked A7 and the other one marked A8 (or A3). the SM states the 2 are different but didnt distinguish which went where.

The sensors are the same, but the wire harness connectors are different. The white connector goes on top, grey on the lower and that part does matter.

CAS is the crank angle sensor.

As I said, the sensors are the same. It doesn't matter which one goes where. The connectors are just important for the positions.
