Another keyless entry thread

Most recent thread I could find was a few years old, so going there are some better options now.
Looking to add keyless entry to LHD 93 FD. Modifying the JDM RHD kit seems a bit of a hassle. Are there better options now?
Bonus points if you know an installer in the Austin, TX area who can do it without butchering things

I was one of the first to do this mod using only OEM parts, and I'll be the first to tell you there’s no aftermarket support that's bolt on. The easiest option is Japan’s keyless entry, which you can still buy new. Mine’s still working, and I love it.

For details, check out these threads (I'm sure you already seen them but for future viewers):

I never did a full write-up; I mostly documented the process. You’ve got three options: modify a universal aftermarket kit, modify the RHD kit (option 1), or modify the RHD kit my way (option 2)

Contact Nick from Austin Car Audio Shop on North Lamar. I currently have the keyless entry system from Advanced Keys out of Canada, which is unfortunately no longer available *I believe*; though, there are other similar kits out there nowadays. A key fob activates the door unlock mechanism as you approach the vehicle, and allows the car to start in normal fashion by either turning the ignition key and or via the use of a push-start button. I've used both options, but generally prefer to use the ignition key over a push-start button. Additionally, the fob works in tandem w our OEM security feature. But wout the fob, the car will not start.

In any case, Nick did a great job on the install; '93 FD. So it won't be foreign to him no matter the system you choose to have installed.

I had one of those Advanced Keys kits. Could not get it to work. Horrible sounds when starting, like squealing. Never figured it out. Glad someone did!
