Another boost problem
I've already tried searching... nothing usefull found so here goes. My boost pattern is running 10-5-8. I can hear what sounds like a leak, but are there any hoses that would cause you to have low boost during transition and secondary but not primary? If so wich one or ones? If not, any ideas on what could cause this pattern?
I'm not joining the "boost problems" club by choice..... but I'm having similar troubles...... my '93 Touring has been running a normal boost pattern 10-8-10 since I've owned it (past 18 months).... took a little joy ride yesterday and SHAZAAM !!!! Now I'm running 10-6-6 !!!! This is the first oddity that I've had with the turbo's..... car's been running 17 PSI vacuum at idle since I purchased it and now it's hanging around 15 PSI at idle.... does this help troubleshoot..... I know there's some guru's out there because I've been reading this forum for quite some time....ANY help is greatly appreciated.....

My vacuum pressure is around -19 to -20 PSI. I think -17 through -20 is usually normal for a non-ported engine.

I suppose the first place is to check all the vacuum hoses. Make sure all the hoses are in good condition and don't need to be replaced. Also make sure all the connections are tight and not loose.
There is plenty of help out there for turbo problems specially during the primary to secondary transition as this pretty much happens to every FD owner at some point. It took me over a month to fix my problems. Here is a list of things to check:
1. The hoses that goes from the intake manifold to the CRA, CRV. There are 4 the other 2 are usually not an issue but you can check them anyway.
2. The same hoses from step 1 go to the inside of the manifold and go under the extension manifold in my case two hoses had popped off on the inside. You can take the pressure tank off and look in there but better yet take the extension manifold off and you can check all the hoses under it.
3. The Turbo Control Actuator that you can see from under the car has a little c clip that can come off check that out along with the two hoses that feed the actuator. I also had a problem where the c clip holding the pre control came off causing low boost you can check it while you are under the car.
4. Check the coupler wher the y pipe meets the plastic tube that goes to the IC and also the coupler at the intercooler. The first one is notorious for breakage mine was cracked in half. This is due in part to oil that comes off the turbo causing the coupler to hardened.
5. You can contact me at mambert@austin.rr.com if none if these work then we can t into the boost gauge at different points to see where it is coming from. It took me several months to fix my problem and I just blew my engine after getting the boost pattern perfect.

Thanks for everyones posts, I'll start checking those points ASAP. And just so that everyone knows the only rx-7 shop in town here closed a few months ago. So now it's all up to me to do my work.
I had a similar problem for a long time.

Have you replaced your pre-cats with a dp yet? I was getting 10-6-8, then I put a downpipe on and got 10-8-10. I think the pre-cat must have been clogged.
I recently had a shop replace the main cat/down pipe gasket, but they didn't have the right size. They temporarily put a smaller one in. Now my boost is back to about 10-6-8. I'm guessing the smaller gasket is being restrictive.
