Anbody bidding on dead red 94 auto?
Just a note if anybody's bidding on this car (I am not):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...487936324&rd=1
I went and looked at it last night. It's sitting inside the seller used-car lot's rather well-equipped "service" shop (looks like they do alot of rebuilding of wrecks, common for this area) getting splattered with turtle wax from a kid polishing a nearby subie wagon.
Body looks quite straight, no paint mismatches, even panel gaps all around. Interior reflects the low mileage. Engine bay looks just like my GTU's that has been sitting more than a year - that white surface corrosion on aluminum throttle body, etc. One plug wire, with a brand-new never-caused-combustion NKG stuck in it, laying out: so somebody was looking for spark. The mechanic I spoke with was pretty guarded about the car's condition, only saying that A) they suspected a bad rotor and B) "engines were so cheap at a mere $2700 that they didn't bother putting one in."
That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. There was a 5 foot pile of dead piston motors in the corner of the shop, so they replace all the time.
So caveat emptor.
