Am I missing something?
Did Mazda include a floor panel between the spare tire and the carpet? My carpet lies on top of the spare. Seems like there should be.

yes......
......you are! Missing the spare tire cover, that is.
It is a formed, pressed stiff-fabric type thingy......gray in color, kind of fuzzy.......
It just adds stiffness and support for the hatch area floor. Hmmmm, well acutally it IS the floor!
