aluminum AST...

anyone know where i could pick one of these up. all i know of so far are corksport (for a whopping $230) and the pettit one (which uses the non-standard cap, and is ugly). maybe a vendor out there wants to make one? this one looks larger than standard ones... maybe its just me. -heath

I just pick up mine from Tri point engineering and let me tell you it is awesome! I am extremely pleased with and not to mention you can get it polished straight from them ( but you need to ask and pay!) Talk to Mark you won't be disappionted!

Waste of time and money. There are many threads here on AST elimination. Please show me one that says" my car blew up because I eliminated my AST"

You are 100% correct, the AST is a WOM(waste of money).
I haven't heard of anyone having problems without them. If they did it was caused by something else, or personal neglect or stupidity.
Mine has been removed for about 6 years and I live in Houston, and never had any problems.

Brad

I have the same one and got it for around the same price as the Pettit one (a little less I believe) how much more was it to have it polished (I got the black one. This is a very strong AST in construction, welds are excellent and fit and finish is as well. Jack

I have tracked my car twice since AST elimination. Max coolant temp was 205f. The only damage to car was front bumper hitting the 18" tall dandelions at 95 mph. Seems like no one has a legitimate explanation why they are here except that "The Mazda engineers must have a reason for it".
