Question Aluminum Accelerator Pedal Assembly?

Does anyone know if an Aluminum replacement for the stock plastic accelerator pedal assembly has ever been produced? I'm not talking about an aluminum pedal cover, I mean the whole pedal and arm assembly.

I was underneath the dash tonight, and was just reminded again at how aesthetically nice it would be if all the pedals matched.

I know... who cares right, well I guess I'm just really ****. I usually subscribe to the mantra, "If the money spent doesn't make the car perform better then it's not money well spent" but that plastic accelerator pedal has bugged me, off and on for the last 4 FD's that I've owned.

I figured some of you FD Gurus might know of something.

I know someone on the forum used to make metal accel pedal covers, and i know alot of people on the forum have them. I dont remember who it was that made them, i'm sure if someone does know, they'll chime in.

IIRC, he also made a metal dead pedal cover too.

It was SledDriver that made the covers. I have a set and they look nice.

I remember an eBay auction 2-3 years ago for a cast aluminum gas pedal that looked exactly like the brake/clutch pedals. You usually want the gas pedal to be texture-free so your foot can slide on it so I wasn't sure how well it worked.

But yes, it's been done. Good luck finding one.

I've been here on the forums and around for a while and I have never seen an entire gas pedal assembly different than stock (only just covers).

Thanks for the responses guys. I did some searches before I posted, and I couldn't find anything except covers as well. If anyone would know, it'd be you guys. Anyone else know of anything?
Does anyone have the cast accl pedal that NewbernD mentioned, I'd like to see what it looks like?

Thanks for the Link Mahjik. Maybe I'll try to fab something up using one of their acc. pedals and some aluminum flat stock. I've have to put a clutch in this winter but If that project gets done in a timely manner maybe I'll attempt the pedal assembly. My buddy just got a spool gun for his welder and he's been itching to do some aluminum work with it. Thanks again

Here is a pic of the eBay cast gas & deadfoot pedals

As far as the pedal covers I sold. They are NLA due to problems with people at work complaining.

Thanks for posting the Picture SLED, I wish I'd been paying attention when those Ebay Cast ACC pedals were being sold. I really like the Way that cover matches the stockers. And I never would of thought to paint the Arm Silver, But it blends in nicely.

I'd love to get my hands on one of those cast Acc. pedal covers, If anyone knows of someone that has one or who was actually making them I'd really like to get some info.

Thanks again Guys..

Pete

I just noticed the date on the pic. Oct 1, 2005. Is this your car? Not using your own pedals, huh?

Not that it would help you any...
But I bought a used accelerator pedal assembly several years ago with exactly that in mind. However, it remains an unfinished project.

What Happened? Did you lose interest? I haven't seriously looked at the job yet I.E. measurements, materials, etc. So I really don't know how involved it'll be.

Do you still have the extra Pedal assembly? Id be willing to take it off your hands. It 'd save me the hassle of removing my stock unit for duplication. If you still have it, PM me and maybe we can work something out.

Well, I sort of lost interest since I had other RX7 projects that were more pending - like installing the engine.

I am still interested in making an aluminum accelerator pedal. However, I am not sure when I will get around to it. This thread, however, got my interest piqued again.

I picked up the used accelerator pedal on the forum for about $20, if I recall correctly. You could pick one up easily. I am not interested in selling it at this point.

LOL.... Yeah I guess The ENGINE is a little more important than redoing the Acc. pedal. If you ever get chance to finish it up, please send me a Pic I'd love to see how it turns out.
