Aluminium AST PICS needed please. Going 2 build a custom one...

friends, I have a craked AST (plastic).

My uncle owns a aluminium company in Argentina, so I thought that he could make me a custom aluminium AST, cos shipping that part to argentina will be 2 much 4 that ******* part, I rather use that money on other mods.

Can u post pics of your aluminium ASTīs so I can copy it??

Just in case, my mail is amitra@fibertel.com.ar

alexis

Thanx!!!!

bye

I am doing a study on the stock AST vs. aftermarket. What part of the stock ast cracked? picture? how old/mileage? what pressure cap did you run?

Thanks.

Why not just cut your stock AST in half and cast a copy of it? I would do that, but I don't have access to a metal shop at the moment.

Here are photos of the inside of the stock AST:

I have seen that thread...I like to collect info on cracked/splitted AST; location of damage and pressure cap setting.

I am working on something interesting.

An AST is a pretty basic design. It's basically two chambers, one large- the main body of it, and one small that coolant escapes the pressure cap into- the neck of the tank. There are three nipples, one on the bottom, on on side side, and one that the coolant escapes into. Here's a pic from Rotary Performance.

Just delete it altogether. For years I resisted, but got rid of mine a few months ago and have seen no difference. You'll need the FC filler cap that bolts to a 2-piece filler neck.
